5 Simple Ways to prevent Body odour

Body odour is an unpleasant smell  caused by bacteria that have metabolized the body sweat. The armpit region is the most affected area that emits unpleasant smell. Other areas includes: the navel, the anus and the genital tract. This areas emit a great amount of odour because of the  type of gland that is found there called the apocrine gland. The apocrine gland produces alot of sweat which  in turn serve as  food for  bacteria. Body odour is the byproduct produced after bacteria has fed on sweat.

Wikipedia Definition of the medical Condition
The condition can be known medically as bromhidrosis, apocrine bromhidrosis, osmidrosis, ozochrotia, fetid sweat, body smell, or malodorous sweating.

Osmidrosis or bromhidrosis is defined by a foul odor due to a water-rich environment that supports bacteria, which is caused by an abnormal increase in perspiration (hyperhidrosis). This can be particularly strong when it happens in the axillary region (underarms). In this case, the condition may be referred to an axillary osmidrosis.

Trimethylaminuria (TMAU), also known as fish odor syndrome or fish malodor syndrome, is a rare metabolic disorder where trimethylamine is released in the person's sweat, urine, and breath, giving off a strong fishy odor or strong body odor.

 Ways to prevent body odour
1. Personal hygiene
This is strictly the most important way of preventing body odour.

  • Sweat is virtually odourless but  serve as a food for microorganisms to feed and breakdown. When it is completely metabolized, its byproduct is what emits maladorous and repugnant smell. Sweat is like fuel, it does not bring fire by itself but can aggravate any little fire around it to burn even the whole city.

  • If  you've just finished a workout, don't hesitate to hit the bathroom after the activity. Change your clothes and wash them immediately. If you're sweating too much try to keep your underarms always dry.

  • There's nothing wrong in taking your bath twice a day. Bath twice a day and don't wear one cloth more than once if you had perspired on them.
  • Clean up all hair found in pubic regions at regular intervals. Hair is  a breeding ground for microorganisms.
  • After shower, no soap/lather should be left on  your  body because some microorganisms feed on soap . Dry clean your body, do not leave any water on your body

2. Use Natural Deodorant

  • Alum: Alum has been used   before long for its coagulant properties but it has a disinfectant property too. Rubbing alum stone on the part emitting odour can be very helpful. After rubbing, wash the alum. Most Women used alum to tighten the genitals a practice which actually does it but not advisable because it can lead to yeast infection and irritation. So keep it away from that tract.

  • Use of lime: Lime has antibacterial properties due to its acidic content. Bacteria are the culprit of body odour. Lime juice gets rid of them.  Its deodorant property  help to reduce perspiration. Squeeze the juice of lime out, and dilute with water. Turn the mixture into a spray bottle and apply(especially the armpit) on the region emitting odour. If it causes irritation to your skin, wipe after five minutes of application.

  • Use Mud: If you are out of town and you're where mud is close by, simply scoop a little of the mud and rub on the affected part. Allow it to dry and then wash it off.

3. Change your Dietary Lifestyle
Certain foods such as garlic, onions, meat, coffee and alcohol  can lead to body odour. You can use     them in small amount or eliminate  them completely from  your diet.

4. Avoid Tobacco
When Tobacco is taken, it passes through the lungs and mixes with other elements in the body and      finally finds its way through the skin which eventual produces body odour. Stay away from                tobacco.

5. Clothing
Some clothes tend to increase body odour especially artificial synthetic fibre. Please don't purchase such clothes.

  • Use clothes made of cotton.
  • For men, use cotton shirts in place of singlets. Change them everyday and wash them
  • Ladies change your undies everyday and wash them.
  • Socks should be wash after it has  been worn.
Do have a nice day
